The jewelry pieces in this book are inspirational and unique. The book will appeal to you if you are interested in talismans, charms, and milagros. I enjoyed the back story and also the many techniques used. The pieces incorporate wire, metal (silver, copper), beads, charms, stone and found objects. You may not be able to duplicate each piece, but will be able to make similar pieces and incorporate objects with meaning to you. The pieces are intended to be made as healing or empowering pieces for someone, and therefore, to be unique to the purpose at hand. There is a brief description of tools up front. There are photos and instructions for making each piece.

This book, from cover to cover, is a beautiful piece of art! Each page is designed so thoughtfully from the words on the page to all of the imagery and textures used throughout! I absolutey loved the idea of pairing spirituality and jewelry! I've made jewelry in the past, but not with this much thought and feeling. I'm so excited to get started again with these presciptions in hand! This book was very inspirational and gave me the jump start I needed to get back to making my own artwork. It is easy to read, enjoyable, with lots of beautiful pictures and great projects ideas. Everything is explained clearly and it is a very thoughtful and creative approach to jewelry. I think anyone looking for a creative spark whether your looking to do a jewelry project or some other creative project will find this book a must have!!

I was very hesitant about buying this book. Initially, I thought there might be too much "new age" spirituality for my tastes. However, I must say I absolutely loved it. The jewelry projects featured often use crosses, Milagros, and images of Mary (among other items). At the same time, these charms and symbols could easily be replaced with others having meaning to the jewelry creator. French provides some innovative ideas for using antique, vintage, and other found objects. I was inspired to scour one of my favorite antiques stores with the thought of creating some variations on these projects. My only criticism was that French did not use more clear coat resin in some of the projects it would work well with, but maybe that just isn't her cup of tea? If you have an interest in mixed media jewelry design, do not hesitate to purchase this book.
